Save the Date: January 18th 

As many of you know, I am of Nicaraguan heritage and I am participating in the North Meets South fundraising event to help impoverished children of Nicaragua get a proper education. 

The organization, TALICA – The Teaching and Learning Initiative of Central America, is a 501(3)c nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding the access to basic educational material and promoting international educational partnerships that will improve the overall access to education in Central America.  You can learn more about them by visiting our website www.talica.org   There are no salaries taken out of proceeds, they are a volunteer board and they are proud to say 90% of proceeds go directly to our cause.  The other 10% is used for our Director’s travel expenses to Nicaragua a few times a year to coordinate our work efforts.

They are organizing their first fund raising event for the new year.  It is scheduled for January 18, 2014 at the Historic King & Prince Hotel. TALICA is bringing together Atlantic Canada’s Seafood Ambassador Chef Alain Bosse aka The Kilted Chef from Nova Scotia Canada and Savannah Georgia’s renown Chef Darin Sehnert to the beautiful Island of Saint Simons for a truly unique culinary experience.

This beautiful culinary affair will feature an exclusive menu and special recipes have been planned which will include a 5 course meal of Nova Scotia lobster and Atlantic Mussels from the north and southern smoked pork belly as one of our southern entrees. Each course carefully paired with the perfect wine.  Their guest Chefs are very passionate about creating an extraordinary cuisine and are even more passionate about sharing their knowledge and recipes.

Nova Scotia Butter Poached Lobster on a bed of Lobster Mashed Potatoes drizzled with Beurre  blanc garnished with micro greens and chives.
