The chicken pot pie recipe is the first of many to come. I hope to create an online cookbook for my friends and family to enjoy, but also anyone who might benefit from the knowledge I have to offer.
I you may or may not have already read that I am a college student, who, in a previous life, was an executive chef at upscale and fine dining restaurants. So as you might imagine, I was very spoiled when it came to food and as a college student, in the beginning, I mainly subsisted off of Raman noodles. I figured, even though I am in my 40's, I might as well get the full college experience. Well, after a year or so of tastebud abuse, I decided to stretch my culinary legs and see if I could pull of meals that taste and look like upscale restaurant food, but with the ingredients I could afford, you know, the cheap stuff.
Thus I began began the obnoxious activity of photographing the meals I created and posting them to Facebook as food porn. People seemed to enjoy them, so it seemed the next logical step to start posting full albums of photos, as a recipe, with each photo being a step in the cooking process and the description of each step in the captions. So a couple of months went by and it became clear that the Facebook page would eventually become a mass of information with no good way to access it. This is why I decided to create this blog and move everything over from Facebook.
All of the dishes that will appear on this blog are just dinners I have cooked for my wife and I, and therefore, all the recipes will use only utilize equipment you'd find in anyone's kitchen and food you can get at any grocery store. Within each recipe, I will try and build in as many "tricks of the trade" that will not only make cooking the recipe easier, but will serve to make the preparer a better cook. If a dish was something I created on the fly, there most likely will not be a story attached, so I'll try and include the inspiration for the dish, but, if I am recreating something from my restaurant days, usually there is a funny story involved, so I'll do my best to tell it.
Hope you enjoy this blog.
